Taking the journey of transformation can be difficult; these 10 A’s can help.
When you decide you are ready to meet the goals you have set for your life, be it a healthier lifestyle, career transition, or some other personal endeavor these steps can help you to feel empowered to accomplish the task. These steps when used properly can transform your life, mind, body, and spiritual existence exponentially. Many great teachers before us have used these steps to help others on their journey, and they too can help you. Let’s get started!
Acknowledge that you are afraid – but be willing to do it anyway. Embrace the uncomfortable feelings of vulnerability. Ask yourself “What Do I Really Want?” What do you want for your life, career, relationship, health?
Acceptance is a turning point for change and it brings peace. Acceptance is a choice. When you reject, you suffer. When you accept, you get to something different in your life. Accept your own greatness!
Become aware of our intellect. The mind wants to be in complete control of all of its surroundings and every variable at all times. Intellect offers a false sense of control in response to our need to feel safe and secure. Be aware of your issues of control. Control is a barrier to success. It is not the same thing as discipline.
Be intentional – Align Your Thoughts ….Your Words….Your Action to what you say you want.
Acknowledge and affirm your feelings BUT know that feelings are not always the truth.
Create a simple S.M.A.R.T. plan to achieve your dream. For those of you who don’t know what S.M.A.R.T. is it’s a goal setting technique that allows you to put together an action plan that is specific, measurable, achievable, results-oriented, and time-bound. This type of action plan helps you to be accountable to what massive actions you are doing to see results in your life.
Allow space to grow. Develop a love affair with Failure. Michael Jordan reminds us in his quote, “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
As you go along, evaluate your progress. Hold yourself accountable for achieving the S.M.A.R.T. goals but ensure that they are realistic. . Also, bring your accountability partner, coach, or mentor into the process when you are evaluating for that objective perspective.
Be flexible and make adjustments as you go along. This is a journey – not a destination. You are your ONLY competition.
Instead of being your own worst critique; be your best cheerleader. Treat yourself well by being kind and gentle. Acknowledge your failures and celebrate your success.
